US Marines At The Colony For Thanksgiving Day

Residents at The Colony hosted 55 Marines for Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

It was a great sight to see the big white bus pull up into The Colony (a 55+ community) on Thursday morning to deliver 55 Marines to the waiting residents who were hosting them at their homes for Thanksgiving dinner. This was the second year of what hopes to be a Colony tradition, with special thanks to resident Chairperson Sharon Boll and Co-Chair Kathy Elmore. Waste Management sponsored the bus, along with private residents who also contributed to the Bus Fund. On hand to help welcome the Marines were Mayor Pro Tem Jonathan Ingram and Councilman Randon Lane, along with the 23 host families. After their shared Thanksgiving meals, the Marines were returned to the bus and surprised with gift bags donated by Baron’s Market for a nice send off. Hugs, smiles, and full hearts were had by all. Until next year ~ Kathy Elmore
