Vista Murrieta Bronco's Football Coach Steps Down After 20 Years

Longtime Vista Murrieta Coach Eric Peterson leaves a lasting legacy.

MURRIETA, CA — Vista Murrieta High School Football Head Coach Eric Peterson announced Tuesday that he is stepping down from coaching to spend more time with his family.

Peterson and his Vista Murrieta High School Football program have followed a pathway of tradition, culture and greatness over the past 20 years. He has seen them take home one CIF Championship in 2011, participate in 13 Southwestern League Championships, place as a CIF Finalist seven times and has guided the team in 18 CIF playoffs.

"Twenty years of coaching at VMHS has flown by in what seems like a blink of an eye!" he wrote in his announcement. "It has afforded me the opportunity to be a part of some extremely rewarding experiences. I have worked with gifted student-athletes, coached with great staff, and walked alongside the best parents a coach could ever ask for. It has truly been a pleasure and an honor to serve in this capacity.
