WATCH: Murrieta Native Michael Norman Runs 200 Meters in 20.17 Seconds
The Vista Murrieta grad won the event at the World U20 Championships.
MURRIETA, CA – Michael Norman won the men's 200 meters in the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland Friday in a meet record 20.17 seconds, six weeks and a day after graduating from Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta.
Norman put the race out of reach by the 50-meter mark.
"I feel like the first 50 was amazing," said Norman, who has accepted an athletic scholarship to compete at USC. "Coming off the turn was strong. I started fading with 75 to go. I started to feel the fatigue.
"Coming out here for my first international experience it's amazing to get the outcome that I did."
