Why Not Murrieta???

The news hasn’t stopped… Since July 1st… When this sleepy, perhaps, an unheard small town of Murrieta with some of its residents, successfully blocked three buses carrying mothers and small children (at least, according to what was reported from the media) who crossed the border illegally. But it is not just about this small number, the first batch to come from an overwhelmed part of Texas where many keep coming from Central America. Murrieta heard… The transfers would be every 3 days… To help out Texas in processing such a massive influx that seems to have no ending.

And the war started immediately in this small town… This small city, nestled in the valley. Adjacent to more prominent cities from neighboring counties…San Diego…Los Angeles… or San Bernardino… But the peace enjoyed by many residents, a mixture of different backgrounds, is being threatened to be disrupted since the residents gathered that day and voiced out their frustrations on the government not doing enough to protect the border and its citizens. Many are quick to label that those who protested are racists, bigots, Christians who forget the teachings of Jesus and worst…”haters of children”…

“Why Lord?”

“Why Murrieta?”

I often ask God each morning. Before the rays of the sun rise from the east. In the stillness of each moment. Where I am not distracted nor overwhelmed yet  from what I will see or hear from this world’s matters.

Funny how God, oftentimes answers not in statements but in questions, too… Never in a loud way and never in an expected way…

“Why not?”...came the answer.

And I feel embarrassment each time I dare to ask Him the same question. I feel the greatness of His power yet He is never a braggart. I feel His infinite wisdom yet He gives them in humility. I feel His holiness and righteousness that the more I feel that I am truly nothing in His presence. His true love being interpreted in mistaken ways…

“Why not?”

A simple answer that makes my heart probe for more. Not in my way but in ways that will always seek His wisdom knowing mine is limited.

Yes… I am nothing… And so are you! Being fooled by our own wisdom when even the smartest among us is just foolishness in comparison to God’s. God has a purpose why He drew a line in each city. In each county. In each country. In each continent. He is the One Who put the government and its laws to keep order. Because He knows we are all unwise when it comes to obeying laws.

This war in Murrieta is sending a ripple of an important message all over this big nation. Its voice dares to shout and wake up the sleeping politicians who are consumed by their own interests. Forgetting why they are put in the office by the citizens who voted and put their trust in each of them.

God established this great nation for His purposes.  A nation threatened by its enemies and those who intentionally do not respect this place. And that’s why Murrieta, a small town with some of its citizens, a small number in comparison to the others, will continue to cry to protect this great nation’s border and its laws. Because this is not a war about illegal immigration. The true war is unseen. It lies in each man’s heart as each one battles to discern what’s right and what’s wrong. And the hardest thing to do is to obey…To choose to do what is right…not in the eyes of men…But in the eyes of God…

“Why not Murrieta?”

For God is known to choose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise. God is known to choose the weak things of this world to shame the strong… (1 Corinthians 1:27)
