Winchester To San Jacinto Expressway Needs A Name: What Should They Call It?
Voting is open for the seven Expressway name choices. Which one would you choose?

WINCHESTER, CA — What will they call it?
Residents are being asked to help name the nameless 12-mile expressway between San Jacinto and Winchester by the end of next week. This is part of a $1 billion project to build a proposed four-lane expressway, now in final planning stages after more than 20 years of environmental studies, surveys, engineering and design drafts, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.
The agency said the one thing the north-south project lacks is a name. RCTC officials have narrowed the names to seven options, all available for voting at this linked site.
The expressway, until now dubbed the "Highway 79 Realignment Project," will require multiple phases of construction, ultimately connecting Domenigoni Parkway in San Jacinto to Gilman Springs Road in Winchester, west of Diamond Valley Lake, officials said.
The four-lane corridor will be part of the state highway system, intersecting Highway 74 near Homeland.

A potential groundbreaking date has not been announced, though it will likely be more than a year down the road.
