Gusty wind and rain are expected to continue today and into the weekend in parts of Riverside County while its mountain peaks may get a dusting of snow.
Weather disturbances passing through Southern California will bring cool, unsettled and windy weather through Saturday, along with afternoon and evening showers and a few thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
In the mountains, a chance of showers are forecast. Mountain snow levels will drop to around 7,500 feet this afternoon and some areas may get a few inches, forecasters said.
No rain was forecast for the Coachella Valley or along the San Gorgonio pass, but the gusty winds buffeting the areas were expected to continue. West winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts of up to 50 mph are expected.
A wind advisory for the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio pass is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday.
At noon today, the wind advisory will extend to the mountains of Riverside County, where west winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected along with isolated gusts that could reach 60 mph.
The gusty wind could cause hazardous driving conditions, especially along Interstates 10 and 15, the NWS said. Visibility along some roadways could be reduced by blowing sand and dust.
