Woman Who Allegedly Drove Into SWR House While Drunk Arraigned

Sheriff's officials say the woman drove through the back of a Menifee home.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A 55-year-old woman accused of plowing a vehicle into a Menifee house while drunk pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor charge.

Suzanne Louise Wersbe of Menifee was arrested following the crash in the 27000 block of El Rancho Road last May 17.

Wersbe, who is charged with driving under the influence, was arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Robert Nagby, who scheduled a trial-setting conference for March 22 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

The defendant is free on $5,000 bail.

According to sheriff's officials, Wersbe was driving along El Rancho about 1:20 a.m. when she made a turn onto Griffith Drive and headed through the backyard of a residence, then crashed into the rear of another house on El Rancho.

No one in the home was injured, nor was Wersbe. Deputies arrived moments later and immediately concluded that she was allegedly intoxicated, sheriff's Sgt. Jason Edmondson said.

He said the house sustained minor external damage.

Wersbe has no prior documented misdemeanor or felony convictions in Riverside County.
