10 Reasons To Celebrate Fourth Of July In Calistoga

Celebrate! Napa Valley invites the public to spend the holiday in Calistoga, sharing 10 ways to make it the best Fourth of July yet.

CALISTOGA, CA — A hometown parade with nearly 50 entries, a pay-one-price carnival, a live band and a fireworks show billed as the best in the Napa Valley are among the reasons why Celebrate! Napa Valley is encouraging people to spend Fourth of July 2019 in Calistoga. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4 with the Annual Calistoga Parade through downtown. At noon, directly after the parade, the Napa County Fairgrounds gates will open for a "Star-Spangled Social." For the price of admission, fair-goers get access to unlimited carnival rides, contests, games, a live band and a "concert in the sky" at dark.

From Celebrate! Napa Valley, here are the Top 10 ways to make this Fourth of July the best yet:

  1. Wear red, white and blue to the Parade. Everyone in town gets into the spirit for a parade now celebrating over 100 years of tradition. Don your best patriotic digs and cheer on this year’s floats. The procession starts at Cedar Street, travels down Lincoln Avenue and will continue on to Fair Way.
  2. Follow the parade procession to the fairgrounds for some more fun. Directly following the parade, the Napa County Fairgrounds (located at 1435 N Oak Street) opens at noon for a Star-Spangled Social. Admission includes ALL the carnival rides, games, contests, and fireworks!
  3. Ride all of the carnival rides twice (FREE with admission). Don’t miss your chance to pay one price for an all-day adventure riding carnival rides as many times as you can take, playing games, entering contests and more. General Admission (18 & over) $25, Youth & Teens (6-17 years) $20, children 5 & under are free.
  4. Join the fun and play a Giant Lawn Game. These oversized lawn games aren’t just for the kids. Take a trip back in time and challenge your friends and family to a round of Chess, Twister or Corn Hole.
  5. Eat a corn dog. Nothing smells and tastes more like summer than some good old-fashioned carnival food. While we recommend starting with a corn dog, there are delicious options just waiting to be tasted.
  6. Win a prize at the carnival. We’ve all tried them, but this is your chance to finally win that giant stuffed prize when you try dart throwing, a coin toss, or the basketball hoop. Good luck and strut your success by packing that giant stuffed prize around the carnival.
  7. Churn ice-cream the old-fashioned way (sponsored by Clover Sonoma). Take a break from the heat and carnival fun by entering in this year’s ice-cream churning contest. It’s a delicious way to show the kids how ice-cream used to be made.
  8. Enjoy a picnic dinner for the firework show. There will be plenty of tasty options to choose from for those looking to head directly from the carnival to the lawn to watch the fireworks. Bring a little blanket and save your spot for an electric show like no other.
  9. Dance on the lawn to Brickhouse. This year’s live band is Brickhouse, the Bay Area’s premier cover band!. Get ready to rock as this dance cover band brings the party with popular hits from the 80's, 90's and beyond. From Madonna and Lady GaGa to Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean to Journey and Bon Jovi. Check them out at Facebook.com/brickhouserocks.
  10. Sing at the top of your lungs during the Concert in the Sky. If you haven’t been to Calistoga to watch the fireworks, prepare to be amazed. At dark, the fireworks will light up the sky in a pyre performance to music. Enjoy a truly Star-Spangled celebration at the only fireworks sky concert in wine country.
