20-Year Incumbent Faces Challenger In Race For Napa Co. Supe Seat

NAPA COUNTY, CA – Napa County Supervisor Mark Luce faces a re-election challenge for the 2nd District seat from civil engineer Ryan Gregory.

The district includes west Napa County to the Sonoma County line including parts of Browns Valley and downtown Napa.

Luce, a former planning commissioner and Napa city councilman, advocates slow growth in the county to retain its rural character and protecting agriculture and open space.

Luce says the county needs low to moderate-income housing.

He supports the county's work proximity program that provides 10 percent of the price of a home to low to moderate income workers who plan to live within 20 miles of their work. When the home is sold the seller returns 10 percent of the sale price. Luce has been on the Board of Supervisors since 1996.

Luce lists veterans services, safe streets, safety net social services for the poor and vulnerable residents and seniors and strong law enforcement among his top priorities.

Gregory says the Board of Supervisors needs a fresh perspective and new leadership. His priorities include managing traffic congestion, investing in roads and infrastructure, affordable workforce housing, preserving agricultural preserves and open space and sustainable growth.

Gregory is Vice President of RSA+, a consulting civil engineering and surveying company.
