Anyone who has the propensity for altruism should put it into action as soon as possible. There’s something many people don’t realize until they participate in giving. It’s that the giver benefits in many ways as well. I’ve experienced, and have seen with others, that altruistic actions generate not only happiness for the giver but also emotional and physical well-being. I believe much of our happiness in life results from interacting with others. Volunteerism increases our ability to experience contentment and pleasure on an ongoing basis. I have been dong international humanitarian dental missions for over 44 years
Recently I authored a book which has a chapter on altruism in it. The book is entitled “It’s All About Smiles—Passions From a Dentistt on Health, Healing and Happiness” you can order it at www.itsallaboutsmiles.com
