'Lewd Acts' Napa Verdict Driven By Victim Testimony

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A Napa judge imposed the maximum sentence in a case built on weeks of testimony and a jury’s guilty verdict.

Pedro Y. Campos, 51, was sentenced to eight years in state prison for "lewd acts upon a child."

The sentence stems from a late March trial in which prosecutors secured convictions on three felony counts.

Napa County jurors also affirmed special allegations that the victim was particularly vulnerable and that Campos held a position of trust.

Judge Raymond Guadagni ordered the eight-year term on the first count, with additional three-year terms on the remaining counts to run concurrently.

The weeklong trial featured testimony from a school counselor, a juvenile friend of the victim, and relatives connected to both sides of the case.

The victim told jurors that the defendant inappropriately touched her on three occasions between October 2022 and early 2023.

Investigators with the Napa Police Department arrested Campos following their inquiry, leading to criminal charges and prosecution. At sentencing on April 17, the victim and her mother addressed the court, describing the impact of the crimes.

Deputy District Attorney Shashawnya Worley said the victim showed resolve by testifying and delivering an impact statement, adding that her account helped secure accountability in the case.
