📰 News we're reading

• Napa School Trustee Censured Over Conduct (patch.com) — Napa Valley Unified trustees have formally censured board member Julianna Villegas Hart, alleging hostile behavior toward staff, confidentiality breaches, and defiance of governance rules, and have stripped her of committee roles and direct staff access. Representing much of the city of Napa, Villegas Hart disputes the accusations, framing the move as retaliation over her speech and unpaid stipends, while district leaders describe it as necessary to protect employees and operations.

• Napa Valley Unified unveils hands-on learning center to support agricultural, culinary arts career pathways (pressdemocrat.com) — A new Agricultural & Culinary Innovation Student Center has opened at Vintage High School in Napa, giving local students upgraded kitchens, agriculture labs, and future viticulture facilities tied to the valley’s wine industry. District leaders say the center will expand hands-on career pathways while still keeping students on track for college, with programs emphasizing real-world skills, confidence, and professionalism.

• Bipartisan Lawmakers Serve up ‘Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act': What Does It Mean? (today.com) — Napa shoppers might recognize the Costco mentioned as senators push a “Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act” to let SNAP users buy hot chickens nationwide. The bipartisan proposal wouldn’t add funding or cover other hot foods, and follows a prior law that significantly cut SNAP benefits and tightened eligibility rules across the country.
