NAPA COUNTY, CA — Napa County sheriff's detectives arrested a man Thursday in connection with an investigation into a series of storage unit burglaries involving stolen property, including firearm parts and ammunition.
Detectives say they recovered suspected stolen property from the Storage Star facility on Devlin Road in Napa and arrested Joey Mason, 65, of Vallejo.
Sheriff's detectives announced last week that they had arrested an initial suspect. The investigation then led detectives to identify Mason as an additional suspect.
According to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, detectives served search warrants at Mason's storage unit and residence. There, the investigators recovered property believed to have been stolen in the burglaries, including firearm parts and ammunition.
Because Mason has previous felony convictions, investigators also arrested him on suspicion of possessing ammunition, which California law generally prohibits convicted felons from possessing.
Mason was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections. His bail was set at $50,000.
Burglary investigations involving self-storage facilities can be lengthy because detectives must identify individual renters, determine what property was taken from each unit, and match recovered items with their rightful owners.
The Sheriff's Office said detectives are still working to identify all victims connected to the Devlin Road burglaries.
Anyone with information about the case should contact Napa County Sheriff's Det. Christian Winegar at 707-253-6031 or by email at christian.winegar@countyofnapa.org.
