NAPA, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office warned residents to be aware of a phone call scam being perpetrated by people pretending to be from the Sheriff's Office.
The advisory on Friday said that residents had received phone calls by people posing as the Sheriff's Office and demanding payments.
The callers threatened to arrest or jail the victims.
The Napa County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that residents should hang up on such calls and that the Sheriff's Office will never ask for payment over the phone.
Never share financial or personal information with unsolicited callers.
Anyone who receives such a call was asked to contact the Napa County Sheriff's Office at 707-253-4440.
