Victim Emails Reveal More Napa Jewelry Burglary Cases

Detectives recovered stolen jewelry and linked additional burglaries to a construction worker arrested last week.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Emails from victims have helped Napa County detectives uncover additional burglaries tied to man arrested earlier in August.

The Napa County Sheriff's Office arrested David Alejandro Gomez Sanchez, a 44-year-old construction worker, Friday in connection with a series of residential burglaries.

Investigators suspect him of selling stolen jewelry to dealers in Napa and Contra Costa County.

Detectives identified him as a suspect while investigating four residential burglaries in Napa's Hagen Road area. The victims reported missing jewelry, but investigators found no evidence of forced entry.

Detectives said each burglarized home had an unlocked door or window. Investigators found few disturbed items inside the homes, while victims mostly reported stolen expensive handbags, jewelry, and jewelry boxes.

Detectives determined that the pattern also matched a residential burglary in Pleasant Hill.

Deputies executed a search warrant Friday at Gomez Sanchez's residence and found jewelry they believe is connected to the Napa burglaries, the Napa County sheriff's office said. Investigators recovered additional stolen jewelry from the vehicle he was driving.

Detectives have also recovered some stolen jewelry from pawn shops across the North Bay region.

Gomez Sanchez has worked on multiple homes in Napa County and may have been involved in similar thefts dating to 2024, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office received emails from victims after the arrest. Investigators said those responses helped detectives advance the ongoing investigation and identify more burglary cases involving Gomez Sanchez.

Detectives believe additional related burglaries may have occurred throughout Napa County without being reported to law enforcement.
