Woman Fights Back, Jury Convicts Her Attacker: Napa County DA

Amador Solano faces sentencing in November after jurors convicted him of burglary, sexual assault, and other offenses.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A jury convicted a Napa man of entering a woman's home, sexually assaulting her in the shower, and then stealing her belongings as she tried to fight him off.

Amador Solano, 34, of Napa, entered the residence on the evening of June 20, 2024, while the woman showered after returning home from work. He entered the bathroom, pulled back the shower curtain, and sexually assaulted her.

The woman fought off Solano, forcing him to flee. He took her purse or wallet as he left.

The woman called 911. Napa Police Department officers found Solano on the Napa River Trail shortly after the assault, according to the Napa County District Attorney's office.

He was carrying the woman's stolen belongings, cocaine, and methamphetamine, according to prosecutors. Officers arrested him and transported him to jail.

Following a jury trial that Napa County Deputy District Attorney Shashawnya Worley prosecuted in late October, jurors convicted Solano of sexual penetration by a foreign object, assault while committing a burglary, first-degree burglary with a person present, false imprisonment by violence, and making criminal threats.

Jurors also convicted him of misdemeanor petty theft and possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. They found several special allegations and aggravating factors true, which the court may consider to enhance his sentence.

Solano is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17 in Department 1 of Napa County Superior Court, where the court will set a sentencing date.

Separately, Solano faces numerous pending felony charges in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, according to the Napa County District Attorney.
