NAPA, CA — A beloved Italian restaurant in the heart of wine country is closing after nearly 17 years.
Oenotri in Napa announced Saturday on social media that its last day in business would be Nov. 14.
"It's hard to put 17 years into words. What began as a restaurant became a gathering place, a second home, a family, and a part of so many people's stories," the announcement, posted on Instagram, said.
"To the guests who filled our tables, the team who poured their hearts into this place, and everyone who made Oenotri what it was, thank you."
Oenotri opened in 2010 and offers house-made bread and salumi, fresh handmade pasta, pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven and produce from its own farm, as well as a selection of Italian and Napa Valley wines.
The restaurant was featured several years in a row on the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants list, according to the newspaper, which reported that Oenotri's owners characterized the closure as a natural evolution, not a sudden shutdown.
