Blue Oak School begins its eleventh year with the strongest enrollment since the school opened. Following an all-school Ice Cream Social and a morning of orientation, 188 students began classes today, Tuesday August 28. 108 students will be a part of the Polk Street Lower School with another 80 students joining the Hayes Street Middle School. This represents a 13% increase in overall enrollment.
40 new students are new to Blue Oak, coming from American Canyon, Fairfield, Napa, Sonoma, Suisun City, Yountville and Vallejo. Others recently moved to the Napa Valley from San Francisco, San Jose, Evanston IL, Eugene OR and Johnson City TN.
Blue Oak continues to follow its founding mission of seeking to educate students from a broad cross section of the population found in the Valley. More than 35% of the students enrolled at Blue Oak have identified themselves as non Caucasian and nearly half of the families new to Blue Oak having received financial assistance in the form of indexed tuition.
Applications for the 2013-2014 school year will be accepted beginning September 1. Families interested in mid-year admission should contact Barb Lundberg, Director of Admissions at 707-261-4522.
