Authorities Identify Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Hwy 29 In Napa
Napa police say the 25-year-old woman was driving the wrong way on state Highway 29 and collided with four other cars.
NAPA, CA — A woman who died in a wrong-way crash late Saturday night in Napa has been identified by the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office as 25-year-old Alejandra Zavala of Vallejo.
The Napa Police Department received multiple 911 calls at 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 about the crash on state Highway 29 just north of the George F. Butler Memorial Bridge.
California Highway Patrol officers were the first to arrive and landed their helicopter to transport a patient, Napa police Sgt. Aaron Medina said in a news release.

Five cars were involved in the collision.
Zavala was driving one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:47 p.m., according to the coroner's office.

Napa Police Department's Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to conduct an investigation.
Police determined Zavala was the wrong-way driver; she was traveling southbound from the Carneros area via Sonoma Highway and struck four other vehicles that were traveling in the northbound lanes, Medina said.
Northbound Highway 29 was closed at Highway 221 for several hours Sunday as the investigation continued.
