Autopsy Confirms Woman's Fatal Injuries Consistent With Being Hit By Vehicle
The name of the victim struck Sunday on Highway 29 is still not released pending notification of her family.

An injured woman who died after she was found on state Highway 29 in rural Napa County early Sunday morning likely died from blunt force trauma consistent with being struck by a vehicle, a Napa County sheriff’s captain said today.
The final determination on the cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology report that could take three to six weeks, Capt. Doug Pike said.

An autopsy on the 57-year-old Bay Area woman was conducted Monday, Pike said.
Sheriff’s officials have identified the woman, but are not releasing her name until her next of kin is notified.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 4:45 a.m. Sunday to a report of a woman with major injuries lying in the southbound lane in the 4100 block of Highway 29 near Old Lawley Toll Road near Calistoga.
She was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital but died while en route, Pike said.
Sheriff’s officials said they were investigating the death as a possible homicide because pedestrians are few in the rural area where the woman was found and no vehicles were present, Pike said.
