Napa Valley Marathon

Annual Napa Valley Marathon put on by Kaiser Permanente held Sunday, March 2.

With ponytails swishing in the wind, heavy breathing, and lots of water over 2,500 runners participated in the 35th annual Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon on Sunday. The race started at the intersection of Rosedale rd. and Silverado Trail and ended in Napa. Smiles crossed the finish line at Vintage High School all throughout the morning.

“I feel wonderful,” said Carol, a teacher from Arkansas after running the 26.2-mile race through the valley. This was Carol’s 158th marathon she has run in, and her ninth this year.

Friends and family members cheered on their racers at the finish line, including members of the Vintage High School Choir who had microphones and speakers set up as they sang high energy songs for the runners as they passed one of the driveways on El Centro Ave.

“It’s nice to see such a diverse range of people out here today” commented one of the event organizers. Runners came from all over the U.S. and from several other countries; ages ranged from 18-79.
