Photographer Rick Mariani to present at the Napa Valley Photographic Society September Meeting

Please join fellow photography enthusiasts for Rick Mariani’s presentation on commercial food and product photography.

Rick Mariani Photography is a commercial photo studio.  Rick specializes in photographing products, food, and wine for many wineries, food companies, marketing agencies, magazines, graphic design firms, and ad agencies.  He has photographed scores of covers and the monthly food menu for The Wine Spectator magazine for 12 years. After many years working with wine-related clients, he has an extensive knowledge of wine and the industry.  Look for Rick’s work on Instagram at “rickspix.”

Previously, Rick was an Adjunct Professor of Photography at Solano Community College, where he taught one or two classes each semester, including Product Photography, Architectural Photography, and Portraiture.  He taught similar classes at Napa Valley College as well.

Early in his career, Rick was a Staff Photographer for MediaWest in San Francisco, a multimedia production company.  There were many corporate clients and projects included audio-visual multi-projector slide shows.  Rick did all the photography as well as the set-up of projectors and screens and sound systems for meetings or permanent installations.  Rick literally traveled around the world to take photos and set up productions.

Rick will critique member photos.  The assignment is to photograph a product in an interesting environment, a product with food, or just photograph food either prepared or raw.  Critique will focus on concept, composition, lighting, and chosen depth of focus.

Napa Valley Photographic Society (NVPS) promotes the art and science of photography, providing education, image appreciation, inspiration, and exchange of technologies.
