Calistoga Residents Told To Shelter In Place As Hunt On For Windsor Bank Robber: Deputies

One person was injured after shots were fired, according to law enforcement. Suspect possibly armed with AK-47 assault rifle.

NAPA and SONOMA COUNTIES, CA -- Sheriff's deputies in Napa County are asking residents in Calistoga to shelter in place this afternoon as they search for a suspect connected to an armed robbery earlier today in Windsor.

Deputies are searching for the suspect near state Highway 128 and Petrified Forest Road and are asking residents to avoid the area, according to the sheriff's office.

The male suspect is on foot and considered armed and dangerous.

He's described as a 24-year-old Hispanic man who is 5 feet 11 inches tall with long dark hair and is wearing a black shirt, sheriff's officials said.

The robbery was first reported around 1:50 p.m. in the area of the Lakewood Shopping Center at 9018 Brooks Road S., according to Sonoma County sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Cecile Focha. One person is in custody, Focha said.

Shots were fired in the area and one person, possibly a guard or armored truck driver, was shot three times, but information about the extent of the injuries was not immediately available, according to Napa County Undersheriff Jean Donaldson.

The robbery suspects were armed with AK-47 assault rifles, Donaldson said.

"A very large perimeter has been set up around the scene," he said, adding that numerous law officers from multiple agencies, along with K-9 teams and a helicopter are involved in the search.
