NAPA COUNTY, CA — Containment of the 64-acre Canyon Fire near Lake Berryessa in Napa County improved overnight to 90 percent, according to Bruce Lang of Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. The wildfire broke out at 1:15 p.m. on SR-128 at Wragg Canyon Road and quickly spread to 45 acres.

Tuesday afternoon, mandatory evacuations orders for residents of nine homes on SR-128 were lifted and the highway was reopened.

"With the cooler overnight temperatures, firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots, mitigate hazards and strengthen control lines," Lang said Wednesday. "Use caution while driving Hwy 128 in the fire area as fire equipment and personnel will be present."
