NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Lake Berryessa boat launch ramp at Capell Cove has been closed to the public as of Tuesday.

The closure of the launch ramp at 1547 Knoxville Road is because of the low water level at the lake, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.

In a similar message, the City of Napa announced the closure of the Lake Hennessey Boat Launch (dock). At sunset Friday, the dock will close. The parking area will remain open but boats can no longer enter the lake.

"Record-low water levels at Lake Hennessey due to the region's current drought make it necessary to close the boat launch for the safety of the public and to protect the lake's water quality," the city said. "The boat ramp has become too shallow and is forcing boaters to enter the Lake with their vehicle in order to launch their boats, which can potentially affect the water quality."

Reopening of the Lake Hennessey dock will depend on winter rains to raise the lake's water level, which is not likely to happen until November or later, officials said.
