City Of American Canyon Announces Resident Survey

Randomly selected households will begin receiving invitations this week to the online survey.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA — The City of American Canyon has launched a resident survey that includes questions about quality of life, community services and priorities for the future.

Starting this week, randomly selected American Canyon households will begin receiving invitations in the mail to participate in the survey in English, Spanish or Tagalog. Residents who receive an invitation should not share the online survey link with others; this will maintain the accuracy of the data sample, the city said in a news release.

Beginning March 7, the survey will be open to all residents through the city’s website.

The National Community Survey™— The NCS™ — allows the city of American Canyon to compare results and benchmark residents' opinions against other communities across the country, and is being conducted through an online engagement platform called Polco that can be also be downloaded as an iOS or Andriod app.

"The National Community Survey will enable us to better serve our community," said American Canyon Mayor Leon Garcia. "By understanding our residents, we can respond directly to their needs."

The platform allows residents to provide direct input to the local government decision-making process. Survey respondents can then join the city’s Polco panel to view the survey results and

continue to engage with the city on future initiatives.

When completing the survey, residents will be asked to provide their ZIP code to confirm where they live. This allows the city to be sure they are hearing from each person only once and see which general area of the city respondents live in. Responses will remain anonymous, and personal information will be securely stored with Polco.

"We are looking forward to kicking off our launch of Polco with the NCS™, and we look forward to using Polco’s service to continue to get resident feedback and implement actions that make our government work more effectively," Garcia said.

Anyone who receives the invitation but needs a paper version or other accommodations to complete the survey should contact the city's communications manager, Jen Kansanback, at 707-647-5355 or JKansanback@CityOfAmericanCanyon.org.
