As you begin holiday shopping, you can rest assured knowing First Street has something for everyone. Grabbing a gift for a furry friend? Look no further than Milo & Friends Pet Boutique. Searching for the perfect selection for the bookworms in your life? Browse Copperfield’s Books’ diverse collection of books, magazines and trinkets. Between shopping sessions, you can also enjoy signature sushi rolls, premium cocktails and world-renowned wine at Eiko’s Modern Japanese Cuisine before spending a relaxed afternoon perusing The Bennington.

Susan Melendez opened The Bennington as part of downtown Napa’s First Street development in August 2019. Now, three years, a pandemic and a few wildfires later, she curates her items with the same philosophy as when she started.

“Every item you see here tells a story, and I carry them because they make my soul feel something,” Melendez said.

Rather than attending gift shows, Susan actively seeks out local vendors and responds to customer needs and wants.

Susan’s favorite item for the season is a curated “Taste of Napa Valley'' gift box that features a cutting board made at the Veterans Home in Yountville, three different kinds of salami from Molinari in San Francisco, sweets from Napa Nuts and a few other delights. The gift box is $99, and yes—Susan can ship it for you!

Shopping at The Bennington is a full-sensory experience. Every surface is artfully arranged and thoughtfully curated with everything from Susan’s favorite body lotion to a selection of nightlights that bubble and blink to olive oils handmade up on Atlas Peak. Carrying over forty different Napa Valley makers, The Bennington is a great place to do your holiday shopping when you’re looking to support local.

The Bennington is open 7 days a week and is located at 1300 First Street, Suite 345, among the other First Street Napa storefronts that contribute to the liveliness of downtown.
