Susan Melendez opened The Bennington as part of downtown Napa’s First Street development in August 2019. Now, three years, a pandemic and a few wildfires later, she curates her items with the same philosophy as when she started.

“Every item you see here tells a story, and I carry them because they make my soul feel something,” Melendez said.

Rather than attending gift shows, Susan actively seeks out local vendors and responds to customer needs and wants.

Susan’s favorite item for the season is a curated “Taste of Napa Valley'' gift box that features a cutting board made at the Veterans Home in Yountville, three different kinds of salami from Molinari in San Francisco, sweets from Napa Nuts and a few other delights. The gift box is $99, and yes—Susan can ship it for you!

Shopping at The Bennington is a full-sensory experience. Every surface is artfully arranged and thoughtfully curated with everything from Susan’s favorite body lotion to a selection of nightlights that bubble and blink to olive oils handmade up on Atlas Peak.
