Community Meeting Set To Discuss Old Sonoma Road Property In Napa County

NAPA COUNTY, CA – Napa County is scheduled to host a community meeting 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, at Harvest Middle School, 2449 Old Sonoma Road, in Napa, to discuss the future of the Old Sonoma Road property.

This is the first of three meetings designed to collect input from neighbors and those impacted by the planning project.

For years, the campus, located at 2344 Old Sonoma Road, served as the main hub for the Health and Human Services Agency. Initially, the county planned to expand the 8.6-acre site but opted to move to a new location, leaving the property vacant with the exception of a child care program expected to relocate in the coming months.

During this process, the community indicated the ideal use of the site would be housing for all income levels to meet the growing demand in the city and county.

In March, the Napa County Board of Supervisors began the process of developing a master plan for the site, which opened in the 1920s. The board followed community recommendations that housing is likely the best use of the site.

“This is an opportunity for the community to learn about the project, ask questions, express opinions and share ideas,” said County Executive Officer Leanne Link. “Please join us as we begin the planning process and shape the future of this important area.”

The county has contracted with MIG Communications as the master planning consultant for $285,721.
