Coroner Identifies Body Found In River As Missing Napa Woman

Authorities confirmed late Wednesday that the body was that of 37-year-old Crystal Lea McCarthy.

NAPA, CA — The Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office completed an autopsy Wednesday on a woman's body recovered last week from the Napa River, and positively identified the body as that of Crystal Lea McCarthy.

McCarthy, 37, lived in Napa and was reported missing the morning of Dec. 14.

A sheriff's deputy was searching the river on a patrol boat Thursday and found her body near the Third Street Briedge.

"The cause of death is pending further testing, by the Napa County Sheriff's Forensic Pathologist, and results of the tests will not be available for several weeks," sheriff's Spokesman Henry Wofford said.

"Napa Police Detectives continue to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding McCarthy's disappearance," Wofford said. "Anyone with information is asked to contact Napa Police Detective Brandt Keown at 707-257-9592."
