Davis Estates Dedicates 2020 Chardonnay To Glass Fire First Responders

The winery is commemorating the two-year anniversary of the Glass Fire, gifting 50 percent of the wine's proceeds to Napa Valley firehouses.

Because of winemaking conditions during the Glass Fire, Davis Estates' 2020 Chardonnay saw no new oak and was finished in stainless steel tanks, which gives it a more crisp, acidic and refreshing flavor profile.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Calistoga-based Davis Estates announced it has dedicated its 2020 Davis Estates Chardonnay to the firefighters and first responders who fought to save its winery and so many others during the Glass Fire of 2020.

Appropriately dubbed the Thank You First Responders Chardonnay, the wine will benefit local heroes with 50 percent of the proceeds going directly to Napa Valley firehouses. Because of winemaking conditions during the fires, this Chardonnay saw no new oak and was finished in stainless steel tanks, which gives it a more crisp, acidic and refreshing flavor profile.

September marked the two-year anniversary of the devastating Glass Fire. The wildfire erupted Sept. 27, 2020, in the Deer Park area of Napa Valley, then raced across the Mayacamas Mountains into Sonoma County. More than 67,000 acres were scorched in a weeks-long firefight.

The blaze forced the evacuations of wide swaths of populated areas, including Calistoga and parts of Santa Rosa. All told, nearly 700 single-family homes and 340 commercial structures, including wineries, were destroyed or damaged in Napa and Sonoma counties.

"The entire community came together to navigate this difficult time, and it’s important for us to come together now to give back to those who continue to protect us each day," Davis Estates said in an email.
