Earthquake Near Yountville Jolts Napa, North Bay

The quake struck at 1:55 a.m. Sunday and was felt across the North Bay and elsewhere in the Bay Area — did YOU feel it?

YOUNTVILLE, CA — An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 jolted the Napa Valley and beyond early Sunday morning. The quake was recorded at 1:55 a.m. and was centered about 4 miles south-southwest of Yountville, 5 miles east-northeast of Boyes Hot Springs, 5 miles northeast of Sonoma, 17.4 miles east-southeast of Santa Rosa and 18.6 miles north-northwest of Vallejo, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor — initially registered as a 3.8-magnitude — struck at a depth of about 5 miles below the earth's surface, the USGS reported.

The Napa Police Department in a social media post said no immediate reports of damage or injuries were received.

Folks in Napa, Sonoma, Petaluma, Glen Ellen, Saint Helena, Fairfield, Vallejo, Novato and elsewhere in the North Bay all reported experiencing the earthquake, according to the USGS. The quake was also felt in other parts of the Bay Area, including in Concord, San Francisco, Berkeley and Sunnyvale, the USGS reported.
