Bay-Friendly Garden Tour

The 9th annual Garden Tour will open gates to over 65 gardens located in geographic clusters in Alameda, Marin, Napa and Santa Clara counties.

  • Sunday, April 29, Alameda & Santa Clara
  • Sunday, May 6, Napa
  • Saturday, May 19, Marin

A new crop of gardens celebrates the diverse styles of Bay-Friendly with backyard orchards, urban homesteads, drought tolerant lawn replacements, greywater installations, and native habitats.

You can preview some of the gardens by visiting www.BayFriendlyBlog.org where a host garden 'pick of the week' will be posted between now and the tour.

Registration is required to receive a guidebook with directions, garden descriptions and entrance tickets for all three tour dates; cost is $10 per guidebook. The guidebook also has coupons, including up to 20% off at several local nurseries. Register at www.BayFriendlyGardenTour.og.

The registration deadline is April 20 to visit Alameda and Santa Clara gardens; April 27 to visit Napa gardens; May 11 to visit Marin gardens. Garden clusters are located in the following cities: Palo Alto, San Jose, Fremont/Newark, Oakland, Alameda, Mill Valley/Larkspur/San Anselmo, Novato and Napa.

The tour is organized through the Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening Coalition, a regional nonprofit comprised of home gardeners, landscape professionals and local governments. The Coalition promotes landscaping practices that work in harmony with the natural conditions of the San Francisco Bay Area.
