‘Emerging Voices in Academia’ talk Nov. 3

On Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. Carlos Hagedorn will speak on Chicano Studies as part of the Associated Students of Napa Valley College fall diversity speaker series. The series, called “Emerging Voices in Academia,” is free, open to the public and held in the campus Little Theater (Building 1200).
Hagedorn, a humanities instructor, teaches introduction to Latin American Studies and introduction to Mexican-American and Chicana/o Studies. He is also the program director of the On the Move Elementary, Middle and High School Leadership Academies. Hagedorn received a bachelor of arts in Latino Studies in 2000 and a master of arts in Ethnic Studies in 2006 at San Francisco State University. His research focused on the historical and contemporary experiences of people of color in the context of United States society and institutions. He looked at the impacts of globalization on migration, gender and racial patterns in the United States.
