Winemaker Wednesday: Ziata

"The name Ziata has its origins in Italy but the wine is deeply rooted in the Napa Valley, where I've lived and worked for 20 years. The inaugural release of the 2008 vintage focused on the 2 varietals I love the most, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. I chose them for both their food and their mood versatility. They are intuitively crafted to reflect not so much a style of wine making, but a sense of place - the individual vineyard itself and the Napa Valley as a whole- as well as a sense of time, as it relates to that vintage's growing season and harvest." - Karen Cakebread
