Expect Traffic Delays As #AuctionNapa Gets Under Way: Advisory

Breaking: California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff's Office say traffic delays are expected throughout the day Friday.

NAPA VALLEY, CA -- An advisory was issued Friday, letting Napa Valley motorists know they can expect traffic delays along Highway 29 as the Napa Valley Vintners' 37th annual charity wine auction gets under way in St. Helena.

According to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol officials say traffic will be slow on both northbound and southbound Highway 29 at Rutherford Cross Road and Highway 128.

The delays are expected to last throughout the day Friday, until at least 7 p.m.

It's all for a good cause. Through Auction Napa Valley, which is Napa Valley Vintners' annual community fundraiser, proceeds of $170 million have been invested in local nonprofit organizations, according to a news release.

"Auction Napa Valley is an incredible opportunity for our guests to procure some of Napa Valley’s best wines and exclusive experiences," said Micheal Honig, chair of NVV's board of directors and president of Honig Vineyard & Winery.

This year’s Barrel Auction features single, 12-bottle cases of Napa Valley wines from the highly-acclaimed 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages.

"We’re thrilled to expand that excitement to wine lovers around the world," Honig said. "Best of all, proceeds support community health and children’s education nonprofits, so the more people bid, the more we can contribute to these worthwhile causes."
