Experience the Meritage Winemaker Dinner
Meritage Resort hosts local wineries for an evening of food and wine pairings with a multi-course dinner in the underground Estate Cave
The Meritage Resort and Spa is hosting local wineries this summer as part of their Winemaker Dinner Series. Guests have the opportunity to meet the winemakers, learn about the history and special blends, and sample some of their best varietals.
Many of the most prestigious Napa Valley winemakers are participating in the Winemaker Dinner Series. Schramsberg Vineyards and J. Davies Estate were featured at the Meritage on Aug 28. The evening started up many, many, many steps to the Vineyard Deck where guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres and wine tastings before heading back down to the Estate Cave for a multi-course dinner.
The Meritage culinary experts created a wonder multi-course meal, each uniquely paired with a complimentary Schramsberg selection. To start was American Caviar with 2011 Blanc de Noirs, followed by Split Pea and Ham with 2013 Davies Pinot, then Valencia Orange & Liquid Nitrogen Mimosa with 2012 Brut Rose, and the main course Roast Quail and 40 Hour Pork Belly with 2012 Davies Cabernet Sauvignon, and finally for dessert was Fromage Blanc Crème Brulee paired with 2006 J. Schram.

Schramsberg Vineyards and J. Davies Estate are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. With roots dating back to 1860, Schramsberg is one of the oldest Napa Valley vineyards and one of the first producers of sparkling wine. The Davies family took over 1965 with operations now overseen by Hugh Davies. Hugh is a noted master of bottle sobering. A demonstration was enjoyed by all at the event.
The Winemaker Dinner Series continues in October featuring Silver Oak and Twomey Cellars on Oct 30. For additional information or to make reservations, go to Meritage Resort online. Space is limited and events may sell out so be sure to book early.
