Fire Damages 4 Napa Apartments

Two structure fires kept Napa firefighters and police busy overnight.

NAPA, CA — Napa police and fire personnel responded to two separate structure fires Tuesday night. At least four apartment units were damaged in the first fire, which was reported at 10:15 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Wilkins Avenue.

Napa police Sgt. Alfonso Ortiz said the fire damaged the residences at the complex. Officers responded to help evacuate residents and secure the scene.

At 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, city of Napa firefighters responded to another structure fire on Laurel Street at Coombs Street.

No injuries were reported in either blaze, police said.

American Red Cross assisted 10 displaced residents who were living in the apartment units.

The fire on Wilkins Avenue started in a ground floor apartment and spread to a second-story unit, Capt.
Brian Davis said. Two apartments adjacent to the burned apartments sustained smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is believed to be related to cooking, Davis said.

Further information about the fire on Laurel Street was not immediately provided.
