Flash Flood Watch Issued for Napa Valley

A message from the City of Napa:

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch that includes Napa and the North Bay, in effect from 7:00 p.m. tonight through Friday afternoon.

As a precaution, the City will open self-service sandbag operations at 1:30pm in the parking lot north of the Factory Stores on Freeway Drive near First Street. 

Residents should bring a shovel and gloves and be prepared to fill and transport their own bags.

While area creeks, the Napa River and reservoirs are far below the monitor stage, the potential exists for several inches of rain overnight and into Friday, creating the risk of flash flooding on streams and creeks.

The Napa River is forecast to peak at 13.4 feet around 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, which is more than 8 feet below the monitor stage of 22 feet.
