Distinguished researchers from a number of the country’s leading cancer research centers will discuss the latest advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment in a Cancer Research Symposium hosted by The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Members of the Scientific Advisory Committee of The V Foundation will describe current advances and discoveries into clinical applications, new diagnostics and alternative treatments to cancer at the two-hour session led by Robert C. Bast Jr., M.D., vice president for translational research at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

The symposium will feature Dr. Sabine Mueller, assistant professor, department of neurology and pediatric oncology, UCSF, and Dr. Margaret Tempero, director, UCSF Pancreas Center; professor of medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, UCSF, Rombauer Family distinguished professor in pancreas cancer clinical and translational science. Additionally, V Scholar recipient Dr. Christina Curtis, assistant professor of medicine (oncology) and of genetics and co-director, Molecular Tumor Board, Stanford Cancer Institute, will discuss her V Foundation-funded clinical trial. All members of the Scientific Advisory Board in attendance will be available for a Q&A session offering attendees the opportunity to direct questions to some of the top physicians in the country.

The symposium is part of The V Foundation’s 17th Annual Wine Celebration weekend, its yearly signature event to raise funds for cancer research, however the symposium is free and open to the public.
