How do you get into the mood to write day after day... whether you're sending out your work or not, getting into print or not?
How do you accelerate into an alpha brainwave state (writing with fluency, accuracy, power) despite roadblocks, distractions and obstacles the size of Milwaukee? You know you need intensity and focus to write well. You know you want the halogen light bulb of mindsets.
But traffic's going 100 mph on the creativity autobahn and you can't just jump on. Heroin's out, as is burning the candle at both ends, and there's only so much coffee in the world. So here's one suggestion, which I call "The Five Minute Wonder."

Every day, no matter what, commit five minutes to your creative work. You might want to spend this time reading the last thing you wrote. You could spend the time getting obsessive over your use of the serial comma. It doesn't matter what you do, so long as you take the leap into being creative. You know what? After two minutes your writers block will probably dissolve. You probably won't even notice when your five minutes are up... because, lo and behold, you'll be ensconced in your work.
Do this everyday. You've got five minutes, right?
