Highway 29 Reopens After Vehicle Fire Shut Down

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Both northbound lanes of Highway 29 reopened Thursday morning after a vehicle fire forced authorities to close the roadway between Kimberly Drive and American Canyon Road, police said.

The American Canyon Police Department initially reported that the fire had closed northbound Highway 29 while crews worked at the scene.

Authorities reopened one northbound lane by 8:16 a.m. and urged motorists to use caution as crews continued working along the highway.

By 9:12 a.m., authorities had reopened both northbound lanes between Kimberly Drive and American Canyon Road, according to police.

Police did not immediately provide information about what caused the vehicle fire, whether anyone was injured, or how long the highway had been completely closed.
