July 4th Weekend's DUI Crackdown Resulted In Several Arrests In Napa Valley

NAPA VALLEY, CA -- The Independence Day weekend DUI crackdown in Napa County resulted in several arrests, according to law enforcement.

From Friday July 1, at midnight through midnight Monday, officers from the Napa Police Department arrested nine individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or other offenses.

The DUI/driver's license checkpoint on July 1 processed 1,726 vehicles, with five drivers arrested for suspected impaired driving -- four from alcohol and one drug-related, police said.

Nine additional motorists were cited for being unlicensed or driving with suspended or revoked driving privileges. Also, one stolen vehicle was recovered during the checkpoint operation, according to police.

July 2's DUI saturation patrol resulted in two drivers arrested for suspected DUIs, and one motorist for a DUI-related offense.

The next major Avoid DUI campaign throughout Napa county will be the "18 Day Summer Campaign" which begins in August and runs through Labor Day weekend.

Napa police, the Napa County Sheriff and the California Highway Patrol encourage all motorists to watch and report impaired drivers each and every trip around town or during summer vacations: Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1 anytime motorists encounter that dangerous driver.
