Table Service Added at Kitchen Door

One of my favorite Napa restaurants, , has made life a little easier for its patrons by adding complete table service for diners.

When former Martini House partners Todd Humphries and Richard Miyashiro opened their long-awaited Oxbow Public Market eatery 11 months ago, the idea was that diners would have their food and drink brought to their tables, but only after they ordered and paid for it at the cash register.

And it may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but that was then.

Now you can place your order from where you're sitting, which makes it just a little easier to get that bowl of Chef Todd's famous mushroom soup, a locals' comfort food favorite. 

Kitchen Door diners had been "asking for more traditional table service," Humphries told the San Francisco Chronicle's Inside Scoop SF, whose Sonoma-based blogger Carey Sweet goes on to opine,

"The service upgrade portends some fancying up of the menu, too."

I thought I knew what that meant: Get on down there quick, before the "up" part kicks in.

But Humphries assured me the mushroom soup and other menu items will not be soaring in price: It will remain $7.25 a bowl.

Though Kitchen Door is adding some pricier options like sweetbreads and steaks, it's not raising current prices, he said.
