Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Jolts Northern California

Breaking: The temblor was reported Tuesday night.

LAKE COUNTY, CA — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the North Bay Tuesday night, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor was reported just before 8 p.m. The quake was followed by two aftershocks. A magnitude 2.7 and 3.0 hit shortly after the temblor.

The earthquake was centered about 13 miles away from Upper Lake and about 14 miles from Nice. Residents as far away as Healdsburg, Santa Rosa and Napa reported feeling the shaker. No injuries were reported as a result of the temblor.

In 2014, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck American Canyon during the early morning hours. The massive quake injured residents and damaged businesses.

According to the USGS, the Napa quake of 2014 was the biggest one to strike the region since the 1989 M6.9 Loma Prieta earthquake.
