Manhunt for Napa Valley bank heist suspect ends in quiet HWY 101 community

An American Canyon resident is suspected in robberies in Rohnert Park, San Rafael, Novato, and San Anselmo.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — The search for a man suspected of robbing four banks across two counties — except his own — ended in the North Bay.

Detectives with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety identified Allen Arturo Sanchez Olivares as a suspect in a series of bank robberies in Sonoma and Marin counties.

The American Canyon resident is suspected in four separate robberies in Rohnert Park, San Rafael, Novato, and San Anselmo, according to authorities.

Police arrested Sanchez Olivares Thursday in the 100 block of Fran Lemos Lane in American Canyon during an operation led by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

The investigation involved the Novato Police Department, San Rafael Police Department, Central Marin Police Authority, and the Napa County Sheriff's Office.

Sanchez Olivares was taken to Rohnert Park, where he was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, police said.
