Message From Napa Mayor: City Reaches 500 Coronavirus Cases
"Our number of cumulative COVID-19 positive tests has grown at a rate much higher than what anyone of us should be comfortable with."
NAPA, CA — The mayor of the city of Napa issued a statement Thursday as the city reached 500 coronavirus cases.
"Today is a sad day as we have reached 500 cumulative positive tests here in our city and at the same time we have reached 865 countywide," Mayor Jill Techel said.
Techel went on to say that Napa residents were fortunate to live an area of the state that did not initially see a rapid rate of growth of positive test results for the COVID-19 virus during the first couple of months when the coronavirus was first detected in California.

"Unfortunately, we no longer find ourselves in that same environment," Techel said. "Our number of cumulative COVID-19 positive tests has grown at a rate much higher than what anyone of us should be comfortable with. We see more of our family members, neighbors and friends getting sick, going to the hospital and, in the worst of situations, succumbing to the illness."
Techel urged residents to review information presented on the county of Napa's coronavirus web pages. While doing so, she encouraged residents to think about where they fit in various categories and where their family members fit.

"Consider how the Coronavirus is affecting different groups within our community," Techel said. "Ask yourself if there are things you and your family and friends could be doing differently to help slow the spread."
Techel went on to say that Napa is a "very caring and giving community," and that residents can be part of that caring and giving by helping others remain healthy by: wearing a face covering when out and about, washing hands frequently, keeping distance from others when not at home and by not attending gatherings with people who live "outside of your bubble."
"We all need to work on this together because we owe it to everyone to stop the spread, to take care of each other, and to get our families and friends back to work and our children back to school," Techel said.
