Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Dump Truck In Napa County

Highway 128 was closed for a few hours following the crash on Tuesday.

NAPA, CA — One person was killed on Highway 128 in Napa County Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision near Highway 128 and Wragg Canyon Road in eastern Napa County was first reported around 2:30 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and a vehicle.

According to CHP, a solo driver of a three-wheeled motorcycle was traveling westbound on Highway 128 when they approached a long, sweeping right turn curve in the road. A dump truck was traveling eastbound on the same stretch and also taking the curve, when the cyclist crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the side of the truck. The cyclist was ejected and landed on the roadway, sustaining fatal injuries.

CHP said the truck had been traveling approximately 45 mph, but it is not yet known how fast the motorcyclist was traveling.

The highway near Wragg Canyon Road was closed in both directions for a few hours while authorities investigated.
