Napa Co. Hispanic Network Awards 40 Scholarships

The scholarships were officially handed out at the recent gala, which raised funds for next year's student recipients.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – The Napa County Hispanic Network celebrated its 35th anniversary at its annual gala Sept. 14 as 40 students were awarded $1,000 scholarships to pursue higher-education degrees.

The money raised at this year’s gala will go toward helping high school and college students at next year’s event, as the high cost of higher education continues to be a barrier to many Napa County youth, the volunteer-led organization officials said.

This year’s Fab '30s-themed celebration featured a three-course dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions and speaker, Elmy Bermejo, a President Obama appointee to the U.S. Department of Labor and current president of the San Francisco Commission on the Environment.

Next year’s gala will be Sept. 13, 2019 with the theme “Masquerade.”
