Napa County Hennessey Fire, Gamble Fire Char 3,000 Acres

The two major wildfires burning in Napa County were 0-percent contained Monday night.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Mandatory evacuation orders remained in place Monday night for the Hennessey Fire, one of at least 60 vegetation fires that burned Monday throughout the North Bay area.

The Hennessey Fire broke out Monday morning east of St. Helena near Lake Hennessey, at 60 Hennessey Ridge Road. By 7:45 p.m. Monday, the fire was 2,400 acres and 0-percent contained, and was threatening 205 homes and other structures.

More than 350 firefighters and other fire personnel were assigned to the blaze.

The Gamble Fire, which is the other major wildfire burning in Napa County, was 600 acres and 0-percent contained Monday night. It broke out on Berryessa Knoxville Road, west of Brooks.

At least 60 other fires broke out Monday within Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit territory but all were contained to an acre or less.

"Crews have been working hard managing these fires while dealing with rugged terrain, adverse weather conditions, and unfavorable fire behavior," fire officials said.

In a Nixle alert sent at 10:53 a.m. Monday, the Napa County Office of Emergency Services instructed residents of Hennessey Ridge Road to evacuate and go to the boat launch ramp for more information from Cal Fire.

An evacuation center has since been set up at Crosswalk Community Church, 2590 First St. in Napa.

Here are the areas under mandatory evacuation orders as of Monday night:

  • State Highway 128 from Lower Chiles Valley Road to Monticello Road
  • State Highway 128 from Chiles Pope Valley Road to Lower Chiles Valley Road
  • Chiles Pope Valley Road from state Highway 128 to Lower Chiles Valley Road
  • All of Hennessey Ridge Road.

Here are the areas under an evacuation warning as of Monday night:

  • State Highway 128 at Silverado Trail to Chiles Pope Valley Road, including the Pritchard Hills Area
  • State Highway 128 at Lower Chiles Valley Road to Turtle Rock

Road closures remained in place Monday at Chiles Pope Valley Road, Sage Canyon Road and state Highway 128.

"Individuals who are seeking shelter are reminded to bring a face covering, practice good hygiene habits, and adhere to physical distancing," Napa County OES said about the evacuation center set up at Crosswalk Church. "The County's shelter will be open only to individuals and households who are impacted by the fire evacuations and an address verification will be in place."
