Napa County Confirms 3rd Coronavirus Death

The death happened Sunday in a local hospital.

NAPA, CA — A third Napa County resident has died from the coronavirus. Napa County Public Health reported that the death happened Sunday.

"The individual was an elderly patient from the city of Napa who was receiving end-of-life comfort care in a local hospital," Napa County Spokeswoman Elizabeth Scott said.

No other information about the death is being released, Scott said.

It was the first coronavirus-related death involving a Napa County resident in over a month. The last such death was reported April 3 when an adult resident of the city of Napa died at a hospital outside of Napa County.

The county has had 79 total confirmed cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began in March. Forty of those cases were active as of Monday.

There have been 2,387 tests conducted for COVID-19 in Napa County, with negative results in 2,249 of the tests and results pending for 59 tests.

Statewide, there have been 68,009 total cases of COVID-19 — the disease caused by the coronavirus. There have been 2,719 deaths associated with the virus in California.
